Ronnie O’Sullivan is hunting the eighth Masters title of his career at London’s Alexadra Palace this week. The Rocket recently won the World Grand Prix and he is hoping to continue that momentum to take home the £250,000 winners cheque.

O’Sullivan has been talking down his chances ahead of the tournament but three-time world champion Jimmy White has warned to never rule out his old foe.

“I think O’Sullivan desperately needed to win a tournament,” said White. “Before the Grand Prix, it was the World Championship was his last tournament he won.

“But he’d been practicing hard.

“For me, I think he really wants to win. He doesn’t want to admit it. But winning that Grand Prix will give him a confidence.

“He has got every chance in this tournament.”
