Ben Askren’s backstage row with "pathetic human being" before Jake Paul fight

Ben Askren has revealed he had a heated exchange with one of Jake Paul's "groupies" before his defeat last weekend.

Askren was stopped in the first round of his professional boxing debut as the YouTube star won his third fight.

And while Askren said he was indifferent to Paul himself, he condemned the 24-year-old's "cheerleading squad".

"I actually don't dislike Jake, I'm more indifferent, but his cheerleading squad is gross, they're gross human beings," he told ESPN.

"The fact that Jake pays them to be his little groupies, what are they doing with their lives as men that that's their job?

"Some of these men who are his cheerleading squad, it's gross that they've decided that's what they want to do.

"There was one individual, I'm not going to say his name, he is a gross individual, he is a pathetic human being."

he was in my locker room to watch my hands get wrapped, at first I tried to ignore him because he wouldn't shut the hell up, then I said, 'What is your job title and what do you do?'.

"He said he does everything but I said, 'No specifically what do you do, are you a coach or a nutritionist…?'.

"His job title for me is little b**** cheerleader. I don't know how much someone would have to pay you but I don't think there is a figure for me… maybe $10million someone would have to pay me to be a cheerleader."

Askren also denied that the fight was fixed after footage emerged of him laughing on the walk back to his dressing room.

"That's human nature [to question the fight] but it definitely didn't happen, I got hit," he added.

"I guess the question I have for people is what do I gain from it? I told you guys what I made for this fight, it was a very nice pay cheque but I'm also not destitute and poor, so what do I gain by that? The answer is nothing."
