Boxer Tom Schwarz faces up to 10 years in jail after ‘breaking ex-fiancee’s jaw’

Heavyweight boxing star Tom Schwarz could be sent to jail for up to 10 years after allegedly breaking his ex-fiancee’s jaw in three places, shock reports in Germany claim.

Schwarz, 26, who was beaten inside two rounds by WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury back in June 2019, is said to be on trial for the alleged attack in May 2020.

The German fighter has been accused of punching former partner Tessa Schimschar in a restaurant car park in Germany, with local sources claiming she filed a charge for grievous body harm after being taken to a local hospital with horrendous injuries.

And if found guilty in the trial, which could now be postponed until November due to Covid-19 issues, Schwarz faces up to 10 years behind bars.

Public prosecutor Thomas Kramer is quoted as saying: "During the dispute, [Schwarz] gave the woman a massive punch on the chin, which led to multiple fractures of the lower jaw."

It is unclear if Schwarz was still in a relationship with Schimschar at the time, but German newspaper Bild claim they were together between 2016 and 2019 before breaking up.

He was suspended by German-based promoters SES Boxing when the allegations were first made.

SES Boxing spokesman Christof Haverkamp said: “We immediately suspended Schwarz after the first information about this process and blocked his access to the training gym.

“This applies until the incident has been finally resolved.

Schwarz’s defeat against Fury was the first and only loss of his 27-fight professional career, with 24 victories coming before he was stopped by the Gypsy King in Las Vegas.

He has since picked up wins over Radek Varak and Ilja Mezencec after that shortcoming in Sin City.
