Canelo Alvarez offers Deontay Wilder advice after Tyson Fury defeat

Boxing's pound-for-pound No.1 Canelo Alvarez has offered Deontay Wilder his advice after he was knocked out by Tyson Fury this past weekend.

Wilder had success against Fury early on in the trilogy fight, dropping the undefeated Brit twice in the fourth round.

But Fury would rally to outlast an exhausted Wilder, putting him out in the 11th round with a big right hand to defend his WBC heavyweight title and flawless record.

Wilder's trainer Malik Scott has since confirmed Wilder suffered a broken hand in the fight and will not retire from boxing after doubts over his future in the sport.

And Alvarez outlined where Wilder went wrong against Fury.

He told Brian Custner: "Great fight, great fight. I think Wilder needs more condition, more moves, move the head. It's difficult when you don't have condition and don't know how to move.

"That's why Tyson Fury beat him. Tyson Fury's a great fighter."

Fury is likely to defend his WBC heavyweight title against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte next, granted the Brit can defeat Otto Wallin later this month.

Wilder was taken to hospital after the loss but has since been released. He admitted Fury was the better man and the near 40lb weight difference drained his energy in the later rounds.

Meanwhile, Alvarez fights undefeated Caleb Plant on November 6 as the Mexican hopes to become the first ever undisputed super middleweight champion.

The two men got into a scuffle last month at the press conference for their title fight, with Alvarez shoving Plant and both men taking a shot at each other.

Plant was left with a cut below his right eye in which he insisted came from his sunglasses and not the punches Alvarez threw at him.

And Alvarez said Plant crossed the line at the presser by insulting his mother.

He told ESPN: "He started talking a lot of things. The bad thing he said is you mother******. You can say whatever you want to me, but not my mother. My mother is not here and has nothing to do with this.

"So that's why I pushed him and then he comes back with a left hook. That's why this happened. You passed the line. He's a very insecure person. You can see it in his body language, that's all I take.

"He lost already in his mind because he thinks he's trying to punish me, but he's in a dangerous place. I'm just calm and waiting for November 6."

Plant denied insulting Alvarez's mother, stating on Twitter: "My mother was shot and killed by the police 2yrs ago.

"Why would I ever bring anyone’s mother up and even if I didn’t give a f***, why would I open that door up just for some1 to 1 up me and tell me 'didn’t your mom get shot and killed by the police dummy'?

"No way you all believe that s***. Truth is he’s mad he’s got someone in front of him who isn’t scared of him and isn’t just here to pick up a check and his ego can’t handle it."
