Jake Paul mocks Ben Askren’s "beer belly" after fiery weigh-in for boxing match

Jake Paul let rip at Ben Askren for having a “beer belly” after weighing in for their eagerly-awaited boxing showdown.

Paul, 24, is set to take on Askren, 36, in an eight-round contest at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta on Saturday night.

It will be only the third professional outing of the YouTuber turned boxer’s professional career, with his two previous wins coming against fellow online star AnEsonGib and ex-NBA player Nate Robinson.

In Askren he is up against a former Olympian and wrestling world champion who called time on his UFC career two years ago, bowing out from MMA after a brutal five-second defeat against Jorge Masvidal.

Both men weighed in at 191lbs on Friday, yet Paul looked every bit of his 12 younger years on the scales.

Askren does not appear to be in the best physical shape, and his fiery opponent – who says he is dedicating the fight to his late bodyguard Shamir Bolivar – made sure to poke fun at him.

“I see a guy who's underestimating me,” Paul said.

“I see a guy who is taking this as a joke and I see a guy who said, 'I have to take a s***' during the face-off.

“This is the last 24 hours we will all have to hear Ben Askren. This one means a lot for me, this one is for Shadow.

Despite only fighting professionally on two previous occasions, Paul already rates himself very highly.

“I see myself as an elite fighter right now,” he said. “A young prospect with a lot of motivation, a lot of hunger, and I think people see me as a s****y amateur.

“So there’s a big difference and there’s a big gap in between where I’m actually at and what the general audience thinks.

“But I’m excited again to show my ability on Saturday against Ben, who is a world class fighter.”
