Kubrat Pulev’s weigh-in rant to Anthony Joshua in full as rivals clash
Anthony Joshua claims he felt like punching Kubrat Pulev during their angry exchange at their weigh-in.
Security guards had to step in when tempers boiled over after Joshua reacted to Pulev’s taunts that the would “end him” in their world heavyweight title clash.
An incensed Joshua, who weighed in a pound heavier than Pulev at 17st 2lbs, said: “He has spoken a lot of rubbish and now he has to back it up.
“If you don’t know boxing then that sort of thing could intimidate you. I could have whacked him up there, but I have to save it for tomorrow.
“When people come in the ring with me they are confident, but I take their soul away and get them out of there.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn claimed Joshua was not prepared to take Pulev’s taunts.
“Pulev just kept saying ‘tomorrow I’m going to beat you’,” said the Matchroom MD.
“Pulev kept talking so Joshua said ‘come over here and say that’. Pulev said again ‘tomorrow I’ll beat you’ and AJ said ‘what? You? Disrespect me and I’ll show you’.
“Then he said ‘you’re a pussy’. They wouldn’t stop.”
Pulev said: “I am the better boxer. I told him I will show him that tomorrow and he didn’t like it.”
Joshua’s scuffle with Pulev comes after the WBA Super, IBF and WBO king claimed he is still a “killer” and a “psychopath”.
Joshua, who will earn around £8million from the fight, said: “Once a killer always a killer.
“I sleep good. Certain people can’t sleep at night because they’re really tuned up for a fight, but I must be a good psychopath because I’m sleeping like a baby.”
