UFC star Nate Diaz says he’s not interested in a trilogy fight with Conor McGregor ‘until his leg grows back’, following the Irishman’s leg break in the summer.

The two have become embroiled in one of the company’s fiercest rivalries over the years, with their trilogy series currently standing at 1-1 after McGregor’s victory in August 2016.

Diaz reignited their war of words this week after claiming McGregor needs to book another bout ‘so we know he can even fight’, before they face off again.

McGregor has been out of action since his leg break against Dustin Poirier during UFC 264

The Stockton native posted on Twitter: ‘I’m not fighting Conor until his leg grows back and he beats some people so we know he can even fight still. Till then can I get on January card @ufc’.

McGregor has been out of action since July, where he broke a bone in his leg during his first round loss to Dustin Poirier.

It was the Irishman’s second successive loss to the ‘Diamond’ having shared the octagon at the beginning of the year.

Diaz also questioned McGregor’s fighting credentials following Poirier’s third-round loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 269, where the American looked substantially worse than his Brazilian counterpart.

The 36-year-old tweeted: ‘How Conor let Dp f*** him up hella times he sucks’.

McGregor took the bait and fired back by saying: ‘You lanky string of p***; he got lumped around and got lucky twice. That’s it, is what it is.

‘[This was an] embarrassing night for him alright. That closed guard game. Wtf was that. Wow! Shocking.’

Diaz famously handed McGregor the first defeat of his UFC career back in 2016

Turning away from a third fight against Conor McGregor, Diaz has said he’s willing to fight Poirier as soon as next month.

UFC 270 is the organisation’s January PPV card, which will be headlined by Francis Ngannou v Cyril Gane for the heavyweight title, while a flyweight title rematch between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo is also scheduled.

Poirier and Diaz’s feud has bubbled away for some time now with the pair originally scheduled to fight at UFC 230 in 2018, before the fight fell apart.

The potential January bout may be headed down the same road, after Diaz tweeted this week: ‘The ufc don’t want to pay for u dp sorry u suck’.
