Paige VanZant will compete in her first Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship match this weekend after her split from the UFC last year, and has been forced to shed a significant amount of weight for the bout.
VanZant opted to leave the UFC in 2020 after her contract came to an end.
She had lost to Amanda Ribas in her last trip to the cage, which came at UFC 251 on Fight Island.
After exploring free agency, she opted to sign with the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, and will take on Britain Hart on Friday night in her first bout with the organisation.
VanZant and Hart both made weight on Thursday after weighing in at 126lbs – and the former UFC star had to go through a considerable weight cut in order to do so.
She revealed that her weight cut started when she weighed 148.8lbs, and had to cut more than a stone in order to make weight.
VanZant posted a vlog to her personal YouTube channel to document her weight cut, and showed the extreme lengths she had to go to in order to shed the pounds.
She used a portable sauna as part of her weight cut, as well as running in sweat suits and water-loading.
She showed footage of herself in the portable sauna as she attempted to sweat out the additional weight, before weighing herselt at 134.8lbs six days out from the fight.
Later in the video, VanZant opened up on the struggles of cutting weight so close to a fight.
She said: “The weight cut is the fight before the fight.

VanZant and Hart got into an altercation during Thursday’s weigh-in, with the 26-year-old shoving Hart with her fist during the stare-down.
And VanZant joked afterwards that she forgot she had left the UFC when she got into a clash with Hart.
Posting an image to her Instagram account, she wrote: “Whoops. Forgot what sport I was in for a second.”
