College basketball coaches become teammates in the fight against coronavirus
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Inspired by a popular social-media blitz from their friends in New York, head basketball coaches at 23 Division I schools across New England are banding together to fight the spread of the coronavirus.
The formation of Team New England was sparked by Brown University’s Mike Martin. He was made aware of the push in New York by Andy Borman and Dan Klores, two associates of the RENS, an AAU program in New York. Members of Team New England will use their social-media platforms to share public health guidelines and help slow the spread of COVID-19.
“I saw how all the coaches in New York came together and was happy to do my small part up here in New England to fight the virus,” Martin said.
