NFL players react to Patrick Mahomes’ record-breaking contract from Chiefs: ‘Worth every penny’

Well, at least one person is thriving in 2020.

Fresh off a Super Bowl title and Super Bowl MVP, Patrick Mahomes has reached an agreement with the Chiefs on the largest contract in sports history, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It’s unclear exactly how the contract is structured — the numbers aren’t tied to a percentage of the salary cap — but Schefter reports Mahomes will make a total of $450 million on his 10-year extension.

The massive contract will keep Mahomes in Kansas City through 2031 and allow the Chiefs to build around him as he enters his prime. That may sound ridiculous considering Mahomes is already the best quarterback in the NFL, but it’s easy to forget he’s only 24 years old.

To the rest of the teams in the AFC West, have fun trying to stop that guy for the next decade.
