USA TODAY Sports College football staff picks for Week 2

Beggars can't always be choosers. So complaints about the first major weekend of the college football season lacking marquee matchups isn't going to hold much water for those just happy to be able to see games that appeared unlikely last month.

The ACC kicks off its campaign with a handful of conference games, including No. 1 Clemson traveling to Wake Forest and No. 19 North Carolina hosting Syracuse. No. 10 Notre Dame, a member for just this season, gets a visit from Duke.

No. 6 Oklahoma gets its first look at Spencer Rattler as the team's starting quarterback against Missouri State. That may be the only intriguing aspect of what should be a mismatch that allows the Sooners to get everyone some experience before the meat of the schedule.

Elsewhere in the Big 12, No. 14 Texas and No. 23 Iowa State also kick off their schedules at home. The Cyclones could get tested by a dangerous Louisiana-Lafayette team, especially if they've forgotten they entered the season ranked last year and nearly lost at home in their opener against Northern Iowa.
