Michael Schumacher is doing therapy and is comfortable, says his wife in a new health update.

The German, who won seven Formula One World Drivers' Championships between 1994 and 2004, sustained a serious head injury despite wearing a helmet during a skiing accident in 2013.

And details of the 52-year-old's health status have been kept private by his family, including wife Corinna and their two children.

But there has been good news from Schumacher's other half as they prepare for the release of new Netflix documentary 'SCHUMACHER', which discusses the impact of the incident on his life.

Speaking in the intimate film, which is released on September 15, Corinna said: “We’re together. We live together at home. We do therapy.

“We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he’s comfortable. And to simply make him feel our family, our bond.

“And no matter what, I will do everything I can. We all will.

“We’re trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives.”

Schumacher was skiing with son Mick, who features in the documentary and is on the current F1 grid for Haas, in the French Alps when he hit his head on a rock.

He was airlifted to hospital where serious brain injuries forced the former Ferrari racer into a medically-induced coma for six months.

Since leaving hospital in 2014, the family have lived a private life, with details of Schumacher's health closely protected by the family.

But Corinna added: “I have never blamed God for what happened. It was just really bad luck, all the bad luck anyone can have in life.

“It’s always terrible when you say, ‘Why is this happening to Michael or us’ but then why does it happen to other people?

“Of course, I miss Michael every day. But it’s not just me who misses him.

"The children, the family, his father, everyone around him. I mean, everybody misses Michael.”
