NRL fans ejected after aiming ‘disgusting’ racist abuse at Penrith player Brent Naden

Ugly racial abuse allegations directed at Penrith’s Indigenous winger Brent Naden overshadowed Friday night’s clash between Penrith and the Warriors in Gosford.

A group of what appeared to be eight spectators were escorted from Central Coast Stadium late in the first half after claims they had abused Naden from their seats near the sideline.

It was a disgusting lowlight in what was otherwise a wonderful first half performance from both teams.

It is understood Naden reported the incident to a sideline official before the group was kicked out of the ground.

“Guys, there’s been a bit of racial abuse down here on the sideline,” Fox commentator Steve Roach said.

“A couple of fans have been giving it to Brent Naden, they’ve been escorted out of the ground.”

His colleagues were quick to condemn the situation.

“Great to hear that they have been quickly dispatched, that might be one of the stories out of this game – why on earth someone would do that. Let’s hope they’ve been identified,” Matt Russell said.

While Braith Anasta added: “That’s disgusting, it’s crazy, Get them out and don’t let them back in ever.”

The Panthers led 16-6 at halftime.
