’Up the Milk’ returns for the Raiders

Canberra will turn back the clock to an era when Ricky Stuart‘s Raiders were rugby league kings next season after signing a deal with foundation sponsor Canberra Milk.

The iconic nation’s capital brand will feature on the front of the Raiders’ jersey for the 2021 season, bringing to life the club’s popular catchphrase: “Up the Milk”.

Canberra will most likely secure a new major sponsor for 2022, but they will fittingly reconnect with their most loved sponsor in a milestone year.

Capitol Chilled Foods Australia managing director Steve Ness explained the attraction of having the Canberra Milk brand on the front of jersey for the next 12 months.

“The Milk Authority of the ACT was established in 1971, so next year is our 50th anniversary,” Ness said.

“What better way to celebrate this than by returning our flagship brand Canberra Milk to the front of jersey of Canberra’s premier sporting team.”

Canberra’s social media team announced their reconnection with Canberra Milk with a clever Twitter and Facebook post on Monday morning.

The post started with a host of fans and players sharing the infamous upthemilk hashtag before finishing with Raiders captain Jarrod Croker drinking a cup of milk.

Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has fond memories of the Raiders’ association with Canberra Milk as the club’s major sponsor.

“When I heard about the discussions taking place and saw the garment artwork featuring the Canberra Milk logo, it brought a smile to my face,” Stuart said.

“It brings back some great memories.

“Next seasons apparel range is superb.”

Raiders CEO Don Furner expressed his gratitude to Canberra Milk.

“Since 1982 we have enjoyed a solid partnership with Canberra Milk which at all times has been based on mutual benefit,” Furner said.

“I have no doubt the 2021 jerseys and training apparel are going to be very well received by our members and fans.”

Beyond season 2021, Capitol Chilled Foods Australia will determine which of its brands will be exposed on the Raiders jersey and training apparel sleeve.
