Arsenal at Aouar disadvantage with Gunners unwilling to pay £45m fee up front
Arsenal risk losing out on their No.1 transfer target Houssem Aouar due to the fact they are insistent they are only willing to pay for the Lyon star in installments.
The Gunners have been chasing the French attacking midfielder for a number of months, with Mikel Arteta desperate to add another ball-playing figure to his squad.
But the likes of Real Madrid and PSG are also interested on Aouar, whose impressive performances over the past few seasons have alerted some of the biggest sides in Europe.
And according to The Sun the two clubs may have an advantage over Arsenal because they are willing to sign the player on loan with an agreement to pay the full £45m asking price next summer.
If they were to lose out on Aouar it would be a big blow for Arsenal, yet it appears they simply do not have the financial ability currently to be able to pay such a large fee all at once.
They have already had a £31m bid rejected, and it remains to be seen if they come back with one big offer before the transfer window closes on Monday.
PSG director Leonardo has already confirmed the French club are also chasing Aouar, saying earlier this week: “Right now it is a bit complicated, he is interesting a lot of clubs. He is a dream for us.”
Arteta, meanwhile, has insisted he trusts in what the board are trying to do as he attempts to strengthen his squad.
"Well, I am very confident in what we are trying to do internally," he said.
"[I am getting] clarity and support from everybody at the club to try and improve the team if we can.
"But most importantly as well, to get the right balance in the squad, for now and the way we want to evolve the squad in the future."
