Arsenal fans have confessed they are preparing for relegation after Theo Walcott scored against them for Southampton.
Mikel Arteta is under serious pressure after already losing seven out of their 12 Premier League matches.
It has left them 15th in the table and five points above the relegation zone.
Their opponents on Wednesday night, on the other hand, are in a buoyant mood.
Southampton have been one of the in-form teams in the Premier League and could go top with a win at the Emirates tonight.
And they have got off to the best start after going a goal up – and it just had to be Walcott.
The Saints winger was put through by Danny Ings after Gabriel Magalhaes lost his individual battle.
Walcott got in between Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka and neither could catch the England international as he raced clear.
And he showed incredible confidence to dink a ball over Bernd Leno while he did not hold back celebrating against his former team.
The 31-year-old spent 12 years at Arsenal, making 397 appearances and scoring 108 goals before leaving for Everton in 2018.
He returned to his boyhood club Southampton in the summer and has seen his form return.
And fans have been left staring at a potential appearance in the Championship next season.
"Sticking the knife even further into our wounds," one fan said.
And another wrote: "Nah he's taking the p*** with that celebration."
While a third posted: "We are actually getting relegated aren’t we?"
Another warned: "Yoooooo. I knew exactly what Walcott was going to do."
This fan said: "And Walcott scored, really can’t get any worse now!"
While another said: "Theo Walcott is really gonna relegate Arsenal."
Arteta had admitted that Southampton are a dangerous outfit in the Premier League but he would have been fuming after watching Arsenal go a goal down.
He said on Tuesday: "Every opponent is going to be really difficult in the Premier League.
"We know they are in a really good moment, they are building something over time and you see the results and the progression the team has had – last year they had some difficulties for a period, they came through that and look really strong and they are a very dangerous team."
