Arsenal fans urge Mikel Arteta to sign Jack Wilshere as West Ham cancel star’s contract
Arsenal fans want their club to re-sign Jack Wilshere after news broke that West Ham have cancelled the midfielder’s contract. Wilshere left Arsenal on a free transfer in the summer of 2018 to join West Ham. However, the former England international has continued to be hampered by serious injury problems.
Wilshere has made just 18 appearances for the Hammers since his arrival at the London Stadium.
But despite his string of fitness problems, many Arsenal supporters would love to see the 28-year-old back at the club.
And they took to social media to express their hopes about re-signing the Arsenal academy graduate.
“My heart aches for Jack Wilshere man, I’d have him back at Arsenal in a heartbeat,” one fan wrote.

Another tweeted: “Wilshere a free announce @Arsenal #afc.”
“Would genuinely lob a one year pay-as-you-play deal at Wilshere,” another wrote.
One supporter even thinks Wilshere would be one of the club’s top midfielders if he rejoined Arsenal.
They tweeted: “Wilshere would be our 2nd/3rd best midfielder.”
However, some are still sceptial about his horrific injury record.
One wrote: “I’d love nothing more than for Jack Wilshere to captain us back to the promise land but it’s not going to happen. He’ll get injured more times than he plays.”
Another tweeted: “As much as I loved Wilshere at Arsenal. He would get injured stepping off the bus.”
Wilshere made 197 appearances for Arsenal between 2008 and 2018 and appeared 38 times in his final campaign at the club.
He won the last of his 34 England caps in 2016.
Speaking after Sunday’s win over Sheffield United, Mikel Arteta insisted the club were working to bring in new recruits.
“Well I am confident we know exactly what we want to do, we are all trying our best to finalise the deals that we want, whether that is sending someone on loan or bringing someone in,” Arteta said.
“We have a complete connection and cohesion between Edu and myself, the board and the ownership, so let’s see what happens in the next 36 hours.
“I cannot discuss the players that we want but we recognise certain positions that we believe we are short in.”
