Arsenal join race for Ben White but face competition from Liverpool and Man Utd
Arsenal have joined the transfer race for Brighton defender Ben White – but face tough competition from Liverpool and Manchester United.
The Englishman has earned several plaudits from his 2020/21 campaign on the south coast, making 39 appearances for the south-coast side.
Despite having a contract until 2024, the Englishman who has taken Trent Alexander-Arnold’s place in the Euro 2020 squad has been linked with several big clubs.
And The Mirror have reported that the North London side have now registered their interest in White.
Mikel Arteta has become a ‘big admirer’ of the 23-year-old, having seen him play in Brighton’s 2-0 defeat against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on the last day of the season.
It was his composure on the ball and strength in the back line, as well as versatility, that appealed to the Arsenal boss.
But the report states that the Spaniard will have some serious competition from Liverpool, United and Tottenham.
While they will be expected to cough up £50m for the defender who helped Leeds return to the Premier League during his loan spell in the 2019/20 season.

The Red Devils have been ‘huge admirers’ of White since December, looking to find a more consistent partner at the back for Harry Maguire.
Jurgen Klopp may have already brought Ibrahima Konate into the back line from RB Leipzig but a pursuit of the Englishman is still on the cards after a defensive injury crisis last season.
Brighton are unwilling to let White go this summer with the England international still having three years left on his contract and the club being in a safe position financially.
Yet an offer of £50million is huge for a club of Brighton’s stature and unlikely to be turned down.
Brighton chief executive Paul Barber recently said: “We know some of our best players aren’t going to be with us for ever and, if the right offer comes along and they want to leave, then they can go.”
