Arsenal have reportedly identified Nabil Fekir as a potential transfer target, in case they fail to sign Martin Odegaard on a permanent deal. The Norwegian playmaker, who has been missing for the past few weeks with an ankle injury, has impressed greatly at the Emirates Stadium since arriving on loan from Real Madrid in January.
Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal hierarchy would love to sign him on a permanent deal but know their chances of doing so are limited.
For one, Real Madrid want to keep Odegaard and consider him as part of their future plans.
Furthermore, his value has skyrocketed due to his sparkling form in north London.
Arsenal’s transfer budget this summer is likely to hinge on whether they secure Champions League qualification via the Europa League.

Fekir has just one year remaining on his current deal with Betis, meaning the La Liga club could be forced to sell this summer.
Inter Milan and Rennes have also been linked with a move for the attacker.
Also on their shortlist is Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt.
The 24-year-old is another former Liverpool target and has fallen off the radar in Germany.
Brandt may benefit from a change of manager at Signal Iduna Park this summer, having found himself on the fringes of the team this season.
Dortmund are willing to cash in on the player, meaning Arsenal could land him for a cut price.
