Arsenal team news: Predicted line-up to face Liverpool as Arteta receives injury boost

Arsenal face their most difficult game of the Premier League season so far tonight as they travel to face the reigning champions, Liverpool. Mikel Arteta’s new-look Arsenal have made a bright start to the season, and Express Sport is on hand with all the latest team news and how the Gunners could line up tonight.

Arsenal will face Liverpool twice this week, first tonight in the league and then on Thursday in the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners are looking to keep their 100 per-cent record alive in the league, but will face the champions who are hoping to do the same.

Arteta has transformed the way Arsenal play since he took over, and has got the team playing fast-paced attacking football.

Arsenal will go into tonight’s game with two injury boosts, with Kieran Tierney and Emile Smith Rowe set to return.

Tierney suffered a tight groin before Arsenal’s second game of the season against West Ham and hasn’t played since their opening game against Fulham.

He has been back in full training this week, but isn’t expected to start tonight.

Instead, Bukayo Saka is set to keep his place at left wing-back.

The 19-year-old wonderkid is set to play on the left side of a back five, with three centre-backs and Hector Bellerin on the right.

At centre-back, Arteta is expected to change things slightly, though new signing Gabriel Magalhaes will likely keep his place in the side.

David Luiz has fully recovered from his neck injury and is set to regain his place alongside Gabriel, with Saed Kolasinac on the other side.

Further up the pitch, Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos will likely start in the middle of midfield behind an attacking trio of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Willian and Alexandre Lacazette.

Willian seems to have found his feet at the Emirates immediately, and already has three assists from his first two games.

And Xhaka is clearly a fan of the Brazilian winger, saying yesterday that his and Gabriel’s arrivals have given the squad a lift.

He said: “With Willian and Gabriel, Arsenal brought a lot of quality and mentality into the dressing room.

“Willian knows how to win titles.

“And the extension with [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang was an important signal for all of us – we want to go back to the Champions League.”

Arsenal predicted line-up to face Liverpool (5-2-3):

Leno; Luiz, Gabriel, Kolasinac, Saka, Bellerin; Ceballos, Xhaka; Willian, Aubameyang, Lacazette.
