Arsenal ‘trust William Saliba 100 per cent’ with star firmly in Arteta’s plans
Arsenal reportedly trust William Saliba 100 per cent, with the defender still in Mikel Arteta's plans once he returns from Marseille.
Saliba joined the Gunners from Saint-Etienne for £27million in July 2019, signing a five-year deal.
Despite Arteta's predecessor Unai Emery shelling out a big fee on the French defender, he has yet to make a single appearance for Arsenal, much to the bewilderment of fans.
Instead, he has spent time on loan at Saint-Etienne, Nice and now Marseille in a bid to gain first-team experience and force his way into the first-team picture at the Emirates.
The 20-year-old has been one of Marseille's standout performers this season under Jorge Sampaoli and contributed to the club's impressive start to the campaign as they look to qualify for the Champions League.
However, with Arsenal signing Ben White from Brighton for £50million and gifting him Saliba's No.4 shirt, there was a suggestion that the youngster would never feature for Gunners, despite his exorbitant price tag.
Respected transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has sought to assuage Arsenal fans over the defender's situation, revealing that the club had been in contract with Saliba to confirm their trust in him "100 per cent."

Writing on Twitter, he said: "Arsenal are following William Saliba's progress closely – they are really happy with the French centre back.
"#AFC Arsenal told Saliba weeks ago that they trust him 100% for the future, he joined OM on loan to play all games as starter then he’ll be back. #Arsenal."
Saliba faces a huge battle to nail down a first-team place when he does return to the Emirates.
New signing White and Gabriel Magalhaes have formed a solid partnership this season, keeping three clean sheets in their last four Premier League matches when paired together.
Outside of those two, however, Arsenal have a dearth of quality at centre-half. Saliba'a return would provide Arteta with welcome competition for places.
The defender can play as either a right or left centre-back, making him versatile and appealing for rotation purposes or to cover possible injuries.
