Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney hints at what Mikel Arteta learned from Pep Guardiola

Kieran Tierney has detailed some of the main aspects Mikel Arteta has focused on at Arsenal.

The Spaniard took over at the Emirates in December after more than three years as Pep Guardiola's No 2.

And the Catalan's influence is clear with Tierney discussing how much emphasis Arteta places on the pressing side of the game.

Guardiola's sides have always been known for closing teams down to get the ball back quickly, but the Arsenal boss is teaching his players how to negate the press.

The Scotsman has seen his chances limited since arriving from Celtic due to injury but admits he is still learning from Arteta.

“I’ve seen all his video meetings, I’ve been in the meetings together as a team,” Tierney said. “Before the games, after the games, and just his analysis is amazing.

“In Dubai for the winter break, I was doing some one-to-one work with him, and that’s when I realised ‘this is brilliant’.

“Just to me like, he knows what’s going to happen in a game and how it’s going to happen. What you should do, where you’re going to get pressed from and where your options should be.
