Barcelona ‘furious’ with Ousmane Dembele over handling of Man Utd transfer saga
Ousmane Dembele became the subject of intense speculation in the closing stages of the transfer window.
The winger was linked with a loan move to Manchester United but the deal collapsed on deadline day as the Frenchman stayed put.
United failed to add a top class right winger with their Jadon Sancho move also not materialising as they instead settled for experienced forward Edinson Cavani as well as young prospects Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellestri.
According to reports in Spain from AS, Barcelona have been left ‘furious’ with Dembele after he refused to leave the club for Old Trafford.
It is claimed the Nou Camp club were desperate for Dembele to depart in order to allow them to bring in Memphis Depay as a replacement.
Yet he dug his heels in and refused to depart despite being told he is seventh choice under new manager Ronald Koeman.
Koeman has reportedly told Dembele he is behind Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho, Ansu Fati, Francisco Trincão and Pedri in the pecking order.
And Barcelona are angered by his lack of ambition and the fact he outright refused to co-operate after they have dealt with his injury problems in the last three years.
They are said to have explained to Dembele that they wished to offload him temporarily to bring in Depay only for both moves to collapse due to his refusal.

The Catalan club are also unhappy with Samuel Umtiti after being unable to offload the injury-prone defender.
Like Dembele, Umtiti has failed to live up to expectations at the Nou Camp.
And being unable to offload him meant a move for Manchester City ’s Eric Garcia collapsed.
All eyes are now on Koeman’s plans for the duo, with Umtiti likely to be fourth-choice centre-back and Dembele facing a battle for playing time with various options emerging.
