Ben Foster explains why he ‘hated’ being on Nemanja Vidic’s team at Man Utd

Ben Foster says he hated training with Nemanja Vidic at Manchester United because if you made one mistake he'd "dig you out".

The Watford number one spent five seasons at Old Trafford, but only made 12 appearances in this time.

During this spell the keeper played alongside some sensational players, and won two Premier League titles with the Red Devils.

One of United's best players at the time was centre-back Vidic, who formed one of the game's greatest defensive partnerships with Rio Ferdinand.

Vidic was known for being a tough operator on matchday, and according to Foster he was much the same with his team-mates in training.

Speaking on the Squeaky Bum Time podcast, Foster said: "Just talking about Nemanja, off the pitch he was fairly quiet wasn't he, but on the pitch, in training, that guy was a scary bloke, honestly.

"Horrible, honestly he did not care. If we were playing a five-a-side or six-a-side or something, if you were on his team, I used to think 'please don't be on Nemanja's team, please don't'.

"Because if we didn't win, if I let a goal in that he thinks I should have done better with, he was letting you know and he would dig you out and he was after everybody.

"Honestly he was horrible in training but off the pitch completely different."
