Bruno Fernandes “frustrates” Line Of Duty star as Man Utd stats mask his flaws

Bruno Fernandes has been labelled a "frustrating player" whose stats mask his flaws by Line Of Duty creator Jed Mercurio.

Fernandes has been one of Man United's best players since his £47million move from Sporting Lisbon and has received praise as one of the best players in the Premier League.

The Portuguese playmaker has contributed 35 goals and 21 assists this season and is expected to walk away with the PFA Player of the Year award.

But Line of Duty guru and United fan Mercurio isn't wholly convinced by Fernandes. He believes the 26-year-old's stats make him look better than he actually is.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Mercurio said: "I find him a frustrating player to be your favourite.

"Bruno Fernandes is probably one of the most inconsistent players. There’s that saying in golf that there’s no commentary on the scorecard.

"You look at Bruno’s stats and think ‘this guy must be flawless as a player’.

"Then you watch a game and watch him give away possession and argue about nothing, have really good opportunities to play people in and mess it up.

"You just think ‘oh please do it every week’."

Although Fernandes has a fabulous scoring record for United, 18 of his 35 goals have come via the penalty spot, which works out at just over 51% in total.

Nevertheless, the Portuguese ace hauled the Red Devils from mid-table mediocrity upon his arrival to genuine title challengers earlier this season.

While Mercurio may not be convinced, Fernandes' overall statistics and United's performances since his arrival speak for themselves.
