Chelsea and Liverpool are both out of the Premier League title race for the same reason, according to former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara. Chelsea drew 2-2 with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to dent both side’s hopes of regaining top spot this term. The Blues came from two goals down to level the game up before half time.

Chelsea sit second in the table, 10 points behind leaders Manchester City.

Liverpool are third, one point behind Thomas Tuchel’s side but with a game in hand.

O’Hara believes City are already too far ahead of the chasing pack as they aim to win a fourth title in five seasons.

The pundit says Chelsea and Liverpool let in too many goals to claw back the difference.

Liverpool have let in five goals in their last four league outings, with no clean sheets.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have picked up just one clean sheet in their last nine matches.

“It’s over,” O’Hara told talkSPORT. “It’s well and truly over.

“Liverpool had to win that game. They’re conceding too many goals. Chelsea are conceding too many goals.

“Man City go to all these teams, they go away from home, and they get three points.

“They’re not going to drop ten points. You’re joking, aren’t you?

“They’re dominating the league and they’re dominating everyone.

“For me, the Premier League is over. It’s going to be a formality this season, especially now that Liverpool lose Mane and Salah.

“I just don’t think Chelsea are good enough at the moment, especially with the Lukaku situation as well.

“It’ll be focus on the Champions League now for Liverpool and Chelsea.”

Last week, Chelsea head coach Tuchel ruled his side out of the title race due to the disruption caused by positive Covid cases in his squad.

“How should we be in it?” he said.

“We have seven Covid cases. We have four or five players out for six or more weeks. How should we compete in a title race?

“Everybody else has a full squad and has everybody in training and is training every day at full power to come through this league.

“It would be stupid if we can do it [even with] Covid and if we can do it [even with] injury, and just play, everybody would be stupid to have 23 players.

“I really don’t know what I can expect from my players, in terms of minutes, in terms of intensity. I don’t know it any more.

“Nobody knows it, because we have never done something like this. So we play trial and error and see what we get.”
