Chelsea staff member breaks rank in dressing room leak as Poch waits
An experienced Chelsea staff member claims the current situation is “as bad as I have ever known it”. The Blues are in a sorry state of affairs but are edging closer to appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their next permanent head coach.
Chelsea have lost all five of their matches under interim boss Frank Lampard. It wasn’t much better before Lampard arrived but the hope that the club legend would have a positive impact has quickly diminished.
It doesn’t get much easier for the west Londoners who visit Arsenal on Tuesday. Lampard will stay in his role until the end of the season before a permanent boss takes over.
It is looking likely to be Pochettino, who was awaiting a call on Saturday. The Times says the Argentine is set to discover his fate after holding a series of talks with the club’s hierarchy.

As Chelsea attempt to move on off the pitch, matters in the dressing room have been laid bare. The Athletic has spoken to a member of staff who has worked at the club for a number of years.
The staff member has spoken anonymously in order to protect his job but says the mood amongst the players is worse than he has ever seen. The report says the verdict from the staff member has also been shared by some of his other colleagues.
Chelsea could have a positive end to the season, with six matches still remaining. But is claimed it has got to a point where not even a good run of results would improve the mood in the dressing room.
The morale during a season such as Chelsea’s will not be helped by the size of the squad. Lampard has over 30 players to choose from and keeping those out of the match-day squads happy is an unfathomable task.

The Athletic claims players are training with one group of team-mates one day and a different group the following session. Chelsea have used 33 players in all competitions this season.
Graham Potter was unable to settle on a preferred lineup and it is not hard to see why. Todd Boehly has splashed the cash in a scattergun approach since buying the club 12 months ago.
His £600million-plus spree has no doubt played a big part in Chelsea’s downfall. He has brought in some good players but it is unrealistic to get any manager to bring the cohesion needed at the highest level.
