Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has hinted that Edouard Mendy and Ben Chilwell may be handed their first starts with their new club this week.
Mendy and Chilwell headed to Stamford Bridge from Rennes and Leicester respectively earlier this summer.
Goalkeeper Mendy only joined last week and is set to become Chelsea No. 1 following struggles from world-record star Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Chilwell signed in August and has played for Chelsea though is yet to start for the Blues.
Lampard’s side take on Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday and both could be handed the opportunity to start.
"Mendy and Chilwell are in the squad tomorrow," Lampard confirmed. "They are fit and we will see if they start or not.
“Ziyech and Pulisic are not far away but they are still in a recovery phase. It is too early for them both."
"It is all very positive from the early signs and interactions [with Mendy]. Just as a man on the training pitch.
“He has settled very well in the first few days and we have made him feel welcome as always. It is competition.
Frank Lampard offers olive branch to Kepa and insists Chelsea chances aren't over
“He is a good goalkeeper and we know a lot about him. We will see how we go."
Mendy did not feature against West Brom with Willy Caballero starting in goal while Chilwell was not in the squad at the Hawthorns either.
On signing, Mendy had said: “Yes! I’ve been a Chelsea supporter since I was little. I adore this club.
“When I was 12 I had the chance with a past club I played for to go to Brighton, and we watched a match. I thought English football was amazing.
