Everton hero Tim Cahill names Chelsea star as the best youngster in the Premier League
Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is the most exciting young player in the Premier League, according to Everton hero Tim Cahill. Mount has had a fine first full season in the first-team at Chelsea under Frank Lampard. The 21-year-old has scored six goals and contributed four assists in 29 appearances in the Premier League.
Mount’s early-season form earned him a call-up to the senior England squad for the first time.
He appeared in England’s final six matches in their qualification group for the now-postponed Euro 2020 tournament, starting against Czech Republic and Montenegro.
Mount scored his first international goal when he appeared as a substitute in the 4-0 win over Kosovo.
Cahill believes Lampard must take credit for Mount’s development, after also having him on loan at Derby County last season.

And the Australian expects a big future for the attacking midfielder.
When asked who he thinks is the Premier League’s most exciting player, Cahill told Sky Sports: “I like the look of Mason Mount.
“I think he’s a top goalscorer and he’s got a massive career ahead of him.
“One of the reasons why I like him a lot is because of his coach [Frank Lampard] and the way that he’s trying to mould a player similar to himself.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley believes owner Roman Abramovich’s change in approach in the transfer market is good news for some of the Blues squad.
Burley told ESPN: “One thing I would say is that the landscape at Chelsea has slightly changed because the appetite for Abramovich, the owner, to spend the money that he was once spending a few years ago, when he would go out and say ‘Right, we were 10 points behind the league leaders at the end of the season, go out and get me six players, and I don’t care what it costs’, that landscape certainly in the last couple of years at Chelsea has changed.

“So they’re spending their money a little smarter, a little tighter and they’re not throwing it about like confetti like they once were.
“And I think from that perspective, it’s less of a concern for [Christian] Pulisic and one or two other players that might be fighting for their place, that Abramovich is just going to go out and say ‘Here’s £500m, go and get me half a team’.
“That’s the owner from 10 years ago, that’s not the owner from 2020.”
