Everton in talks over James Rodriguez transfer with Real Madrid star keen
Everton are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez.
The Colombia international is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu with Zinedine Zidane keen to get rid.
Rodriguez made only eight appearances in La Liga last season and was shipped out on loan to Bayern Munich in the previous two seasons.
Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti has a good relationship with the 29-year-old having managed him at both Bayern and Real.
And, according to Sky Sports , the Italian has made efforts to bring him to Goodison Park to have him for a third time.
The report claims Everton have made an offer to Los Blancos, which is now being considered.
But it is claimed that negotiations are progressing nicely with an agreement not too far away.
Rodriguez is out of contract next summer and the Toffees are working to sign him on a permanent basis, although a loan agreement is also a possibility.
Galatasaray are also said to be interested but Ancelotti is confident of sweet talking his former player.
The Everton boss spoke highly of Rodriguez recently but played down a potential move to Goodison.
"James Rodriguez? I like, I like a lot as a player," said Ancelotti.
"When I left Madrid, James Rodriguez followed me to Munich. He came to play.
"But he followed me as a rumour to Napoli and now he is following me here to Everton as a rumour.

"I have to be honest, I like him a lot. But he is a Real Madrid player. I think he will still be a Real Madrid player."
Meanwhile, Everton are still in talks to sign Abdoulaye Doucoure from Watford but both clubs cannot come to an agreement on a fee.
The Hornets are thought to be willing to let hem leave for £35m but Everton do not want to go that high.
