Expected Liverpool XI vs Everton as Klopp has many missing for Merseyside derby

Jurgen Klopp ’s Liverpool face another tough test without a host of first-team regulars to choose from.

Arch-rivals and neighbours Everton visit Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday evening (5.30pm).

And the Toffees know a first victory away to Liverpool in 22 years would put them level on points.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team are seventh heading into the contest, with the Reds sixth.

Klopp’s side can leapfrog West Ham into fifth with a win, but it will be a difficult challenge given the amount of absentees the hosts have today.

Naby Keita is back in training but the midfielder is not fit enough to feature yet.

Meanwhile, Klopp confirmed on Friday that James Milner and Fabinho would miss the Everton match too through injury.

It leaves Liverpool limited still, although they will have renewed confidence off the back of Tuesday’s 2-0 Champions League round of 16 first-leg win away to RB Leipzig.

The Reds dominated at the Puskas Arena, and should everyone who started that game be fully fit and fresh, Klopp could opt for a very similar set-up against Everton.

January Deadline Day signing Ozan Kabak, 20, got another chance to showcase his potential at centre-half alongside captain Jordan Henderson.

While Klopp would no doubt love to have Henderson back in the middle of the park, he will have to rely on the England star’s experience once again while without Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.

Ben Davies is not expected to be handed his debut, following his own arrival in late January from Preston, in such an intense clash.
