Newcastle’s new owners are set to sack Bruce before they return to action in the Premier League when they face Tottenham.
One of the potential options to replace the Magpies manager is Lampard, who was dismissed by Chelsea in January.
But during his time at Stamford Bridge, the former midfielder built up some strong relationships – particularly among the youth at the club.
While Lampard still has close ties to Chelsea, Newcastle could be the beneficiaries with the former Derby boss able to aid potential transfers.
So, who could be on their way to St James Park?
Despite a brief cameo where Barkley impressed against Southampton, his Chelsea career appears to be as good as over.
At the age of 27, the Englishman should be at a club where he can play week in week out – and Newcastle could be ideal – while Lampard handed Barkley his No. 8 shirt.
Another player who would work better somewhere else if he was first-choice, Loftus-Cheek certainly has the talent to perform elsewhere.
Under Lampard, the England international could flourish being coached by one of the best midfielders the Premier League has ever seen.
Thomas Tuchel is a fan of Hudson-Odoi but is struggling to find a spot in his side for him, pushing him out at right wing-back.
At Newcastle, the Englishman would have a much-larger squad role where he could be played in his preferred role as a left winger.
Chelsea have an abundance of attackers and work better with fast players, which leaves Ziyech at a disadvantage as more of a passer.
The Morocco international has failed to impress when called upon and has already been linked with a move away while the former Ajax star was the first signing of Lampard’s era at Stamford Bridge.
At the age of 21, Ampadu has failed to make much of an impression at Chelsea despite arriving in 2017 after just one Premier League appearance to this date.
Currently, on loan to Venezia in Serie A, Lampard could reignite the Welshman’s career at St James Park.
