Footy fan could face jail and fine after ‘masturbating in front of rival fans’

A Lille supporter is facing a prison sentence and a £13,000 fine if he is identified – after reportedly masturbating in front of rival fans.

Tensions boiled over in Lens' 1-0 win over Lille last weekend in a match that was marred by supporter unrest.

Kick-off for the second half was delayed by more than 30 minutes after incidents between the two sets of fans.

Some Lille ultras even made their way onto the pitch, with riot police forced to intervene.

It is believed six people were injured in the fracas, including a riot officer who was trying to calm the situation.

Meanwhile, one Lille fan could face time in jail after committing a crude act in front of the home crowd.

According to La Voix du Nord, one Lille supporter was caught masturbating in front of the Lens fans, an offence that is punishable with a year in prison and a whopping £13,000 fine.

The unidentified supporter was allegedly pictured in the act, revealing his genitalia to the Trannin stand occupied by Lens fanatics, including families.

Numerous investigations are also taking place in the aftermath of the disorder, with authorities trying to pinpoint the individual in question.

Lens went on to win the game 1-0 courtesy of a 74th-minute goal from Przemyslaw Frankowski which moved them into second spot in Ligue 1 behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

"The LFP strongly condemns the outbursts, the invasion of the pitch and the violence that occurred during the match between RC Lens and LOSC Lille," the national governing body said in a statement.

"In view of the seriousness of the events, the Disciplinary Committee will meet on Monday 20 September."

It is the second incident of serious crowd trouble of France in the last month after Nice and Marseille had their game abandoned in August.

Nice were docked two points for the abandonment, one of those suspended, after fans clashed with Marseille players including ex-West Ham man Dimitri Payet, who was hit by a missile thrown from the crowd.

The match will be replayed on October 27 at a neutral venue.
