Grealish pictured at scene of car crash hours after telling fans to stay home
With Britain in the grip of a lockdown due to the coronavirus crisis, Premier League footballer Jack Grealish is pictured looking dishevelled in the street after a Range Rover hit two parked cars.
Images said to have been taken Sunday morning showed the Aston Villa star, 24, in white slippers and a blue Givenchy hoodie.
Other snaps on social media showed the damaged white luxury car abandoned on double yellow lines on the same street.
West Midlands Police said the driver left the scene “on foot” and officers were last night still trying to track him down.
It is not known if the Range Rover belongs to Grealish, who is tipped for a £50million move to Man United, or who was driving.
Mystery surrounds why he was in the Dickens Heath area of Solihull, West Midlands, outside a complex in which ex-teammate Ross McCormack owns a flat. Grealish is believed to live 10 miles away in Barnt Green, Worcs.
Hours earlier he posted a video on Twitter urging his followers to stay indoors during the coronavirus outbreak.
He said: “To help save lives you must stay at home. Only leave your house to buy food, to buy medicine or to exercise, and remember to stay at least two metres apart.
This is urgent, protect the NHS. Stay at home, save lives.”
An Aston Villa source said on Sunday night that club bosses were still trying to contact the star for an explanation.
West Midlands Police refused to name the driver of the Range Rover. A spokesman said: “We were called just before 10am to reports that a Range Rover had crashed into two parked cars in the street.
“The driver left his details with a member of the public at the scene before leaving on foot.
“He will be spoken to by police in due course. Minor damage was caused to the parked vehicles. Officers are investigating and anyone with information has been asked to get in touch.”
Birmingham-born midfielder Grealish has regularly been in the headlines since breaking into the Aston Villa team in 2014.
He was pictured apparently drunk sprawled on the floor in Tenerife in 2015 and caused a stir after throwing a raucous party at a Birmingham hotel the year after.
