Haaland explains why he is "thankful" to Neymar and PSG for mocking celebration
Erling Haaland says he is "thankful" to Paris Saint-Germain after Neymar and Co mocked him in the aftermath of Borussia Dortmund's Champions League exit.
Haaland's brace had given the German giants a 2-1 lead going into the second leg but the French giants hit back on home turf, securing a 2-0 win in March to secure their place in the last eight.
The 19-year-old Norwegian star had celebrated his two goals in the opening leg by sitting cross-legged and pretending to meditate – something PSG mimicked following their win.
And now Haaland has revealed how he has benefited from the public humiliation.
"I think they helped me a lot to get meditation out in the world and to show the whole world that meditation is an important thing so I'm thankful that they helped me with that," Haaland told ESPN.
In a wide-ranging interview, the former Manchester United target also spoke about his heroes growing up.
And Haaland revealed former Red Devils superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is a striker he idolises.
"You could just see it in Ronaldo's face that 'today I'm the man' and 'today, I will score goals' and that's what he did," he added.
