Erling Haaland tops Barcelona’s five-man shortlist for a new striker this summer, but the cash-strapped club will have to wave goodbye to some of their big earners if they are to land the prolific goalscoring sensation.
The 20-year-old has established himself as one of the most sought-after talents in world football in the last 18 months with a series of outstanding displays for Dortmund and former club RB Salzburg.
Haaland, alongside PSG star Kylian Mbappe, are on the radar of Europe’s biggest clubs this summer, with the pair expected to dominate over the next decade.

And Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona are keen on landing the Norwegian from the Bundesliga outfit this coming transfer window.
All facets of the club, the Spanish outlet reports, are in agreement that Haaland is the best candidate to fill the vacant No 9 position left by Luis Suarez, with boss Ronald Koeman, the club’s directors and those challenging for the presidency eager to sign the 20-year-old.
However, the dire finances at the LaLiga club means the likelihood of signing Haaland are very slim indeed, unless Barcelona can offload several of their big earners to make way for the striker.

Lionel Messi’s future at the club is still uncertain, with the Argentine attempting to leave Catalonia last year amid a bitter contract dispute. The 33-year-old’s deal expires this summer and although he is yet to decide what he will do, his departure would free up the cash necessary to sign Haaland.
Elsewhere, Barca would look to sell other top earners in order to secure the Norwegian international. Ousmane Dembele’s contract expires in 2022 and the club were desperate to sell the Frenchman last summer, with Manchester United interested.
Junior Firpo, Neto, Samuel Umtiti and Philippe Coutinho are also named as possible options to sell to make way for Haaland.
Should they fail in their pursuit, Barca have their sights on Aguero (L) and Romelu Lukaku (R)
Should Barca fail in their pursuit for the Dortmund star, the Catalonians would turn their attention to a quartet of marksman they could prise from their European rivals.
Sergio Aguero is a reported target for the club. Manchester City’s record goalscorer has barely featured for Pep Guardiola’s side owing to a host of injury setbacks, but could link up with Argentina team-mate Messi at the Nou Camp.
Inter Milan duo Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are also on Barca’s wishlist. Koeman worked with the former United striker while the pair were at Everton, while Ramon Planes, Barca’s sporting director, is a fan of Martinez’s.
Finally, Barca could go back in for Memphis Depay, with Koeman desperate to land the Dutchman last summer but the club could not finance a deal for the Lyon man.
