Harry Kane tipped to stay at Tottenham despite constant transfer links
Former England and Tottenham Hotspur striker Teddy Sheringham has been optimistic about Spurs’ chances of keeping Harry Kane this summer.
Kane, 27, has been at the club for nearly two decades and scored 166 Premier League goals in the process, but the fairytale appears to heading to a close as Spurs failed to win a trophy again last season.
Man City, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been linked with the 2020/21 golden boot and assists winner as Kane admitted his frustration and appeared to say his final goodbye to fans last month.
However, Sheringham is convinced Spurs are on the right track and the club’s ambition could still persuade Kane to remain in North London.
Sheringham told Sky Sports: “He wants to play at the top level, it’s similar to where I was at Tottenham. I felt the club wasn’t going in the right direction which is why I wanted to leave.
“I’m not so sure about that [being the case] at the moment, you can tell by the managers Daniel Levy’s trying to bring into Tottenham that they are trying to reach for the stars.
“I don’t think it’s the end of the road for Harry and Tottenham right this minute.
Do you think Kane will finally make the move away from Spurs this summer? Let us know in the comments section.
“It depends on which manager comes in and at the end of the day, he has a three year contract left and if they don’t want to let him go he might be there for next season.”
He added: “They’re progressing in the right manner, I still see them on that upward spiral but things need to change.
“I know we’ve said it for a long time but they need to win something and win something quick.”
