Harry Kane’s statement in full as "this summer" plea leaves Spurs fans worried

Harry Kane's statement has Tottenham fans worried this will be his last season in north London.

The England captain took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to commit his future to the club but refused to confirm if he will be staying beyond the 2021/22 season.

The 28-year-old has been in high demand; Pep Guardiola put the Kane at the very top of his shopping list and had a £125 million pound bid rejected by Spurs in August.

Though Manchester City ultimately fell short of Daniel Levy's £160m valuation.

His hope was that such a high fee would ward off any potential buyers and it looks to have worked.

Levy appears to have kept his main man with Kane confirming he will be staying at Tottenham, for this season at least.

In an announcement on Wednesday afternoon, the Premier League golden boot winner wrote:

"It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I've had in the last few weeks.

"I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success. #COYS."

But Spurs fans have noticed two concerning keywords present in the statement: 'this summer'.

The England captain has seemingly refused to rule out a move away from Tottenham in future.

Manchester City had been hoping to finalise a deal for Kane before the window closes. But now the Citizens will have to wait until January at the very earliest to get their man.

However, Pep Guardiola may decide to pull the plug on the deal once and for all; Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a move back to Manchester.

A former Premier League winner with rivals United, the forward is entering the final year of his contract and is keen on the idea of a move back to England.
