Harry Maguire’s problems at Manchester United and England are part of a “really bad moment” in his career, according to Jamie Redknapp.
The Englishman has suffered another embarrassing moment on the pitch after picking up a red card in the 1-0 Nations League loss to Denmark.
It comes days after Maguire was caught in a spat with Marcus Rashford during the 6-1 loss to Tottenham at Old Trafford.
While the centre-back hit headlines throughout the summer when he was found guilty of three charges following a brawl on the Greek island of Mykonos.
It has seen the United faithful call on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to give Maguire time away from the limelight.
And Redknapp, who made more than 300 appearances for Liverpool over 11 seasons, believes the pressure built up at Wembley Stadium.
Speaking on Sky Sports at half time, the pundit said: "It would be very easy for us to sit here, rip him apart and say 'oh he's having a nightmare, he's conceding goals'.
"He's having a moment. He's having a really bad moment in his career that he's going to have to somehow pull himself together.
"He's got a big weekend coming up for Manchester United. He's got to get his confidence back. He's a player really lacking confidence. There's a lot going on in his life.
"We sometimes forget that. When you go out on the football pitch, you think everything is going to be alright but you can genuinely see he's really struggling with his game at the moment."
United legend Gary Neville also suggested that Maguire’s woes had built up to an unmanageable level.
