Hilarious spat between Dyche and McGinn in recent match revealed
‘You’ve been in the Premier League for six seasons and you’re still wearing the same s*** coat, you big p****’: Aston Villa star John McGinn’s put-down in touchline spat with Burnley boss Sean Dyche is revealed
- Sean Dyche was angry about a John McGinn challenge and began complaining
- McGinn had little sympathy with the Burnley boss and told him to ‘shut up’
- Taken aback by the insult, Dyche accused McGinn of being too big for his boots
- However, the Scot fired back by mocking the 49-year-old’s trusty touchline coat
- Dyche did have the last laugh though as Burnley came from behind to win 3-2
Burnley’s 3-2 win over Aston Villa last month caught the eye after another influential display by Jack Grealish and an impressive late comeback by the Clarets to give the hosts a much-needed three points in their battle to beat the drop.
However, the match is more likely to live long in the memory thanks to a hilarious exchange between Sean Dyche and John McGinn.
After McGinn had put in what Dyche deemed a late challenge on one of his players, the Burnley boss made his feelings known.
Sean Dyche became irate at a challenge by John McGinn on one of his players at Turf Moor
The pair exchanged barbs before McGinn dealt the killer blow with a jibe about Dyche’s coat
The Scotsman was quick to dismiss Dyche’s touchline complaints, telling him ‘shut up’, according to Football Ramble.
Not wanting to back down, the 49-year-old responded: ‘So you’ve been in the Premier League for one season and you think you’re proper big time, telling me to ”shut up”?’
McGinn quickly chirped back with the devastating comeback: ‘You’ve been in the Premier League for six seasons and you’re still wearing the same s*** coat, you big p***k!’
Chris Wood’s header completed the turnaround for the hosts to boost their survival hopes
The war of words ended there, but although Dyche’s pride may have been wounded momentarily, he did eventually have the last laugh as Dwight McNeil and Chris Wood helped turn the game on its head and secure victory.
The teams have now faced each other at Villa Park and Turf Moor this season, but given that Burnley are eight points clear of 18th-placed Fulham, expect this battle to recommence in 2021-22. Watch this space…
