Tottenham could make a surprise late bid for Crystal Palace forward Christian Benteke.
Jose Mourinho is keen to add to his attacking options before the transfer window closes as he struggles to keep his squad rotated among a difficult run of fixtures at the start of the campaign.
The pile up of matches in the Premier League, Europa League and Carabao Cup are set to continue for Spurs through the winter months, and seem to have already taken their toll on the injured Heung-min Son.
The recent fitness problems of Harry Kane are also likely to be a concern of Mourinho, with the England captain already making five appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals.
Football Insider have reported that Mourinho has given the 'green light' over Benteke after alternate deals have fallen through.
Benteke moved to the Premier League from Genk in 2012 and earned a move to Liverpool by scoring 49 goals in just 101 fixtures while playing for Aston Villa.
The Belgium international managed nine goals in 29 Premier League appearances for the Reds, and hit the ground running with 15 strikes in his first season at Selhurst Park.
The following three seasons have proved to be far less impressive, which could lead to his exit.
Mourinho said of his transfer plans earlier this month: "I want, I need a striker.
"But I want to make it very, very clear that the club – the structure above me – knows that I need a striker and also wants a striker.

"Are we going to get one? I honestly believe so. For the balance of the squad, the team needs it.”
Roy Hodgson said of Benteke back in January: “I don’t think bringing a new player into the club as a centre-forward should mean it is definitely the end of the road for another player."
The 29-year-old came of the bench in the defeat to Everton on Saturday having played no part in the victories over both Southampton and Manchester United.
