And the Senegalese international is set to command a £90m price as the two top Premier League battle for his signature.

And the report states that Pep Guardiola’s side have been invited to return with a £60m offer as Napoli want to do business.

This has been echoed in public by Napoli president Aurelio di Laurentiis, who opened the door to an exit.

“Kalidou is a wonderful person and of course it’d be sad to lose him,” the Napoli chief told Sky Italia.

“Everything has a time and a place, even when it comes to going our separate ways.

“Having said that, we don’t have €90m (£81m) on the table and in any case, it takes two to separate.”

But the Premier League side are cautious over a deal for the 29-year-old defender due to his age and fear of having no resale value.
