Kane’s Tottenham transfer exit ‘inevitable’ as Man Utd lead chase for star

Former England and West Ham star Tony Cottee reckons Harry Kane is certain to leave Tottenham for pastures new.

Reports surfaced over the weekend that Spurs would be willing to allow their prized asset to Manchester United for £200million

The future of Kane has come under renewed scrutiny during the last few weeks following an Instagram Live chat where the England captain refused to rule out leaving Spurs.

Kane said he would not stay at his boyhood club for the "sake of it" and wanted to see his side progress under Jose Mourinho.

And, while Spurs remain desperate to keep hold of their star man, Cottee can understand why England captain Kane would fancy a move elsewhere.

"I think there will come a time when he says, 'I've done as much as I can, I've scored lots of goals for Spurs but for many, many reasons it's not happened'," he told Sky Sports News.

"Everything is in place there. They've got a great stadium, great club, great fans etc. but they haven't won anything. That's what Harry will want to taste before he finishes his career.

"You want that feeling of winning the Premier League or Champions League and at the moment I can't see him doing that at Spurs.

"I think it's inevitable, if it doesn't happen in the next year or so, I think Harry will leave – probably next summer."
