But the pair were all smiles less than a minute later after Jones set up Mohamed Salah for the opening goal in 3-1 win.
The forward created space for himself in the box before curling the ball from an angle beyond goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.
Milner was seen laughing and hugging Klopp on the touchline after the goal.
Afterwards Klopp said: ‘He was not unhappy. At half-time we changed the formation and Milly was slightly deeper.

‘His hamstring stiffened up slightly, so we told him to be controlled. We waited until Curtis was properly warmed up. Then I saw Milly’s last long sprint!
‘He came off and said ‘you told me to run less then you take me off!’ but then he said ‘yes, good decision boss.’
The Egyptian doubled the lead with a silky finish from a 68th-minute counter-attack.
Substitute Roberto Firmino set up Gini Wijnaldum to tap home Liverpool’s third in the 84th minute.
