Liverpool could agree four transfer exits before 5pm today as Jurgen Klopp trims squad

Liverpool promise to be busy on the final day of the domestic transfer window ahead of Friday’s 5pm deadline. But after signing Kostas Tsimikas, Diogo Jota and Thiago Alcantara in the international window, the business will revolve around players leaving the club.

Jurgen Klopp has already sanctioned exits for youth players, including big-money moves for Ki-Jana Hoever and Rhian Brewster.

The moves on Friday, promise to be more low-key, with EFL clubs looking for any last-gasp bargains.

In the most high-profile move of the day, Harry Wilson is set to join Cardiff City on loan for the rest of the season.

The Welsh international has spent the last two campaigns away from Anfield, first with Derby and then last term in the Premier League with Bournemouth.

After impressing for the Cherries, Wilson had been hoping to complete a move to another top-flight club, but instead will settle for a move to Cardiff.

The Bluebirds will pay £1.2m to finalise the loan deal, just months after rejected a £12m bid from Burnley.

Midfielder Herbie Kane has already completed a permanent exit after the 21-year-old signed a four-year-deal with Championship outfit Barnsley.

Kane made his senior debut for Liverpool in the Carabao Cup last season, before spending the rest of the season on loan with Hull City.

Tykes CEO Dane Murphy admitted that they fought off a number of other suitors to seal a deal worth in the region of £1.25million.

“Herbie is a fantastic player and we are delighted to have him here at Oakwell,” Murphy said. “He has had an excellent education with Liverpool, working under one of the finest managers in world football, and has shown that he has the quality to compete at this level.

“Naturally, there were a number of clubs interested in signing Herbie, but we are thrilled that he chose to come to Barnsley. It’s an indication of our devotion to give young, talented individuals an opportunity to showcase their ability and the Club believe he will be a great success.”

According to the Athletic, the Reds have placed a 15 per cent sell-on clause as part of the deal.

Elsewhere, Ben Woodburn and Nat Phillips are both expected to leave before the 5pm deadline.

Woodburn is expected to leave on a temporary deal, with a move to League One most likely.

After playing with Oxford United last term, Hull City and Charlton Athletic are both keen to sign the 20-year-old.

Phillips could join Kane in completing a permanent Anfield exit after spending time on loan with German outfit VfB Stuttgart.

Nottingham Forest have been extensively linked with the 23-year-old, as Chris Hughton looks to put his stamp on his new team.
