Liverpool part-owner LeBron James makes Kylian Mbappe profile picture switch
Liverpool part-owner LeBron James and Kylian Mbappe have swapped profile pictures on Instagram.
The timing of the switch has come during the January transfer window with the Frenchman linked with a move to the Reds.
Mbappe's success at PSG, and before that Monaco, has made him one of football's biggest stars.
The World Cup winner is a Nike athlete as is James, who recently led the LA Lakers to the NBA title.
Swapping profile pictures comes as the Basketball star releases his latest Nike footwear.
The LeBron 18s are said to be partly inspired by Mbappe with the pair collaborating.
PSG have previously donned shirts with the Jordan logo on, a trademark to six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan.
So cross-collaborations between the two sports are nothing new, but it still serves to heighten speculation.
James owns a small stake in the Reds, who have enjoyed plenty of success in recent years.
Smashing the world record transfer fee is something Liverpool an unlikely to do, meaning a move for Mbappe seems more of a dream than a reality.
Nevertheless the Frenchman has previously suggested he would be open to a move away.
Real Madrid have long been linked with his signature, but in an interview last season Mbappe didn't hide his admiration for Jurgen Klopp and his side.
He was quizzed on the Reds last January when they were yet to lose a Premier League game en route to the title.
"What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing," Mbappe told the BBC. "They're like a machine, they've found a rhythm and are like 'we play again, we play again'.
"They've lost zero games. When you watch you think everything's easy but that's not easy. The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win, they win, they win.
"Now the problem is that everybody watches Liverpool, and everybody watches what we can do against them.
"So now they have to show they are strong again but it's a very good team with a very good manager."
