Man City hero Balotelli could dump Man Utd’s Cristiano Ronaldo out of World Cup

Mario Balotelli could be Cristiano Ronaldo's heartbreaker as 'Super Mario' is set to be called up to Roberto Mancini's squad.

Italy and Portugal have been drawn on the same side of the World Cup qualification bracket in March.

Both sides failed to top their groups, and will have to run the gauntlet of the playoffs to earn a spot in Qatar.

Balotelli last earned an Italian cap in 2018, but he hasn't been a regular fixture of the Azzurri since 2014.

But with his recall, Balotelli could be the man to stop Ronaldo's World Cup dream if the two sides clash in Spring.

Balotelli has fallen out of football fans consciousness after his failed return to Serie A with his local side Brescia.

It took a detour to Serie B with Silvio Berlusconi's new side Monza to help Balotelli re-find his feet as a striker.

Balotelli left Monza over the summer to join Turkish side Adana Demirspor.

And Super Mario has bagged eight goals and three assists in 19 Super Lig appearances so far this season.
