Pep Guardiola could respond to Manchester City’s second defeat of the season by making three changes ahead of his side’s trip to Liverpool. The Premier League champions were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in midweek.
A stunning Lionel Messi goal condemned City to their maiden loss since their opening day reverse at Tottenham.
Guardiola’s side were uncharacteristically poor in their 2-0 defeat and must be far better as they continue one of the hardest periods of their season.
City have visited Chelsea and PSG in their last two matches in all competitions and now head to Liverpool on Sunday.
Gabriel Jesus scored the only goal of the game against the Blues last weekend. Come away with six points from their two Premier League outings and they will surely be the prime contenders to retain the title.
Guardiola has said that he is happy with City’s performances but that does not mean that he will not make changes to his team. Express Sport picks out three players who could come in at Anfield.
JUST IN: Cristiano Ronaldo angrily storms off pitch after Man Utd draw
Guardiola is renowned for tweaking his line-ups but one certainty to play is Ederson.
The Brazilian has missed just five Premier League matches in the last two seasons and made his 200th appearance for the club in midweek.
Ederson has not conceded a goal in the league since Heung-min Son’s winner for Spurs in August.

Defenders: Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, Joao Cancelo
Despite conceding twice, Guardiola could pick the same back four that started against PSG.
Laporte appears to have ousted John Stones from the Spaniard’s preferred centre-back pairing.
Stones did so well alongside Dias last term but has not featured in the league this season. Laporte has made the most of Stones returning late to pre-season following his Euro 2020 exploits.
At left-back, Cancelo has settled in well and appears to be ahead of Oleksandr Zinchenko for the role.
Midfielders: Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo Silva
De Bruyne’s return to full fitness will likely continue with another start against Liverpool.
The Belgian has begun City’s last three matches and will start a fourth if he begins at Anfield.
Bernardo Silva was linked with a move away in the summer, especially following the arrival of Jack Grealish. But the Portuguese has been involved in City’s most important games this term.
However, Silva could now drop out for Phil Foden after a below-par performance against PSG.
According to the Telegraph, Guardiola has been considering using Foden in a more central role, having mostly used him out wide.
Attackers: Ferran Torres, Gabriel Jesus, Jack Grealish
Guardiola could make two changes to his attacking trio after they uncharacteristically misfired against PSG.
£100m summer signing Grealish might be the only one to keep his place, with Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling dropping out.
Jesus was excellent against Chelsea last weekend, scoring the winner 10 minutes into the second half.
The Brazilian could go into the team alongside Torres, who has had an excellent start to the season. The pair have scored a combined eight goals in all competitions this term.
