Man Utd confident of agreeing Jadon Sancho transfer but two things are stopping deal

Manchester United are confident of signing Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, however, the deal has stalled due to a disagreement over personal terms and an agent fee. The Red Devils have made Sancho their No. 1 transfer target. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the England international to slot in on the right wing at Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils and Dortmund are said to be apart in their valuation of the 20-year-old.

The Bundesliga side want around £108m for the ex-Manchester City ace, while United are hoping to agree a cut-price deal.

And according to ESPN, United are confident of agreeing a deal with Dortmund once talks get to that stage.

Instead, it’s the personal terms and an agent fee that have seen talks stall.

Salary demands from Sancho’s camp have slowed negotiations, while the agent fee to complete the deal is too high for the Red Devils.

Sancho is currently in Switzerland for Dortmund’s pre-season camp.

Dortmund chiefs Michael Zorc and Sebastian Kehl have both confirmed Sancho will stay in Germany this summer in a stern warning to United.

“We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions,” Zorc said.

“Last summer, we adjusted Jadon’s salary to match the development of his performances. So in context, we had already extended his contract until 2023 back then.”

Fellow Dortmund bigwig Kehl backed up his colleague, insisting Sancho is not going anywhere.

“It was important to get clarity on the subject,” Kehl said.

“We know about Jadon’s attractiveness, but also of his importance to us. He gives our team that little extra. We’re happy that he’s staying.”

Solskjaer, meanwhile, has been vocal on the club’s transfer plans, with the United boss insisting he won’t rush through any deals.

“I cannot say when or if transfers will be done but we are looking at it and we’ll have to sit down because it’s a quick turnaround,” Solskjaer said.

“We’ve got to be 100 per cent sure when we make those deals.

“It’s going to be a strange summer. We’ve only got a couple weeks away from each other until we get going again. That’s going to be a mental challenge.

“Of course, we’ll keep pushing and keep demanding more of players we have but we’re looking to improve.

“It’s a strange one. The league starts very quickly but the market’s open for so long. We’ve got to be good smart and clever.

“We definitely need to improve if you want to move up the table and take steps further in the cups.

“I’ve never had three semi-finals in one season so that’s one of those things you’re disappointed in.

“We are working to improve what we have, we’ve had spells with injuries and spells where players have played a lot. We’re always looking to improve the squad.

“It’s not about marquee, it’s about quality. You need to have the right player, the right personality, someone who fits into the group and makes us better. We might look at it today and see where we can improve it.”
