Man Utd confirm Varane injury blow as star faces missing crunch Liverpool clash
Manchester United have confirmed that summer signing Raphael Varane will be "out for weeks" as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is left without both first choice centre-backs for the near future.
United face a tough trip to Leicester on Saturday as domestic proceedings get back underway, but the Frenchman could also miss a crucial match against Liverpool later this month.
Varane was withdrawn shortly before half-time during the Nations League final, but the Frenchman added another trophy to his excellent record as Spain were beaten 2-1.
Solskjaer is now faced with a selection crisis at the back, and Liverpool will be hoping that United's issues aren't resolved too quickly.
United released a statement on Tuesday, confirming what all of the Red Devils supporters feared as it read: "Raphael Varane sustained a groin muscle injury in the UEFA Nations League final and has commenced rehabilitation at the club.
"He will be out for a few weeks."
Varane will certainly be out for United's trip to Leicester on Saturday, but with their match against Liverpool fast approaching on October 24, the Frenchman faces a race to get back to full fitness.

Solskjaer has been under fire recently as United have only won two of their last six matches in all competitions, and it could get worse for the Norwegian as Varane joins Harry Maguire in the treatment room.
United are now without both first choice centre-backs, meaning that Solskjaer may have to turn to Victor Lindelof and Eric Baily, or even Phil Jones who is itching to return to the first-team.
Jones has finally overcome a horrific period of his career that has been plagued with injury, and has recently said that he is keen to prove the doubters wrong, should he get the opportunity.
